Ever heard of the Breakthrough Junior Challenge? It is an annual global competition for students (ages 13 – 18) to inspire creative thinking by making a short film about science. Participants are judged on their ability to convey complex scientific ideas into engaging and inventive ways.
Deanna See, a 17 year old Singaporean, is one of the two winners of the 2016 challenge. She won herself a scholarship US$250,000 with her ingenious antibiotic resistance video. She was presented the award at a live televised gala ceremony in Silicon Valley, hosted by Morgan Freeman.

In See’s video titled “Superbugs! And Our Race Against Resistance”, she used Lego figurines and drawings to depict antibiotic resistance in just 5 minutes! She explains how bacteria evolves and builds their defenses against various antibiotics and conjectured the use of antibiotics only when required at the last resort.
The second winner is Antonella Masini, a 18 year old student from Peru. Her video emphasizes on the topic of Quantum Entanglement
